What makes this different:

Run by Locals

We grew up in these mountains. 15 years guiding. Over 10,000 people into the

backcountry. We know where to go when weather shifts, which routes work, where the best snow hides. You can't fake that kind of knowledge.

Connected to Community

We're woven into this community—accommodation providers, rental shops & hospitality businesses. That means better value and insider access.

You get the local experience, not the tourist one.

Small
Groups

Groups of 4-6 women maximum. Matched by fitness and goals. You're not stuck in a big tour where no one knows your name.

By day two, it feels like you have a backcountry crew you can go out with again

and again.

Premium Experience

Thredbo Village accommodation. Nourishing meals. Daily yoga and recovery. Sound

healing. It's all built into the experience—not an afterthought. Enjoy the mountains and have the rest taken care of for you.

What our previous guests have to say:

Touring the backcountry of Kosciuszko has been a long term goal. But not something I could ever have done without the expert guides from K7. K7 had planned the trip meticulously to ensure that trip was safe, educational but still made the most of the incredible alpine and sub alpine scenery and snow conditions. Trying something new that is outside your comfort zone is not for the faint hearted. I have skied all my lift, but the 3 day backcountry trip was one of the hardest physical challenges I have completed. The first two days were blizzard conditions that posed physical and mental challenges. But the guides were incredible. Their professionalism, support and expertise were faultless. Day 3 was a blue bird backcountry day in the Main range. Skiing down the south face of Mt Kosciusko created lifelong memories. Every aspect of the retreat exceeded my expectations from the perfectly planned logistics to the yummy food, wine and home made baked goodies. Spending the night post hike in a warm lodge in front of the fireplace was a perfect way to recharge ahead of the next day’s adventure. Thank you K7 for an awesome weekend.

K7 adventures is everything it says it is. I was able to explore the main range and gain confidence in the Australian backcountry. The women’s backcountry retreat was led by strong and very capable women in the backcountry who inspired us all. Despite my slow pace I was encouraged and supported and never left behind. So many golden moments I will hold dear from the landscapes to pure heart felt moments, and skiing descents Id only imagined I could reach.

One day back in May I was casually scrolling my phone and K7‘s Alpine Women’s 3 day Retreat popped up, without hesitation I signed up, being drawn to the idea of yoga, sauna and a supportive trip skiing into the back country. Lately I have grown a bit tired of the chaos that exists skiing in the resorts and so backcountry skiing was something I’d been thinking about. The follow up information and communication was outstanding and included a fitness plan. The first day not even a blizzard could stop us as we headed to the protection of the trees, we got many tips on skiing in these conditions and terrain on the way up. Drinking cacao with a cool bunch of women beside giant rocks in wild weather after climbing up Dead Horse Gap was so so cool!. The ski down in the fluffiest snow I’ve ever been in, amongst the snow gums, getting tips and fun chats along the way by our expert guides Chess and Lew, including being helped up after sinking into the glorious fluffy snow and cheered on by these incredible people will just stick with me for a long time. The K7 ski guides Chess, Lew and content creator Divya communicated and checked in, made sure we were warm, and carried extra gear in case of need. Logistics queen Leah made sure everything else back at the lodge was perfect. The retreat catered to the group’s different interests and experience, offering snowshoeing, hardcore ski touring and for those like me who on a healing journey just wanted to ski and be. Thank you K7 crew it really was the most excellent adventure! back completely pooped, sit down, get fed, and be ready to go again. It felt like a mountain family. Like being invited into someone's family."

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I've never done backcountry before?

Perfect. Most participants haven't. We start from the base and build your skills

progressively over three days. Day one is about getting comfortable, day two you

push further, and by day three, you're moving with confidence.

Which activity is right for me? Snowshoeing vs Alpine Ski Touring vs Cross Country Skiing

Snowshoeing: Most accessible. If you can hike, you can snowshoe. Focus is on the experience, not learning a new technical skill.

Alpine Ski Touring: For upper intermediate- advanced resort skiers with good fitness. You'll use skin's to travel uphill and ski down.

Split boarding: Same as ski touring but for upper intermediate-advanced snowboaders

Cross Country Skiing : For those who are beginner to intermediate skiers that wish to explore the backountry on ski's.

Unsure? Book a call with our team and we'll figure out what fits your goals and experience level.

What distances and elevation can I expect during the retreat?

Each day involves 5–12 km of snowshoeing or ski touring, with moderate elevation

gain. The pace is designed to be enjoyable, with plenty of stops to take in the

scenery, learn new skills, and rest as needed. We tailor the routes to the group's

ability and conditions on the day.

What do I need to bring?

We provide snowshoes, safety equipment, and all communal gear, so you'll just need

to bring your own winter clothing and personal items. A detailed packing list will

be sent upon booking, and if you need help sourcing gear, we'll guide you through

rental or purchase options.

What fitness level do I need?

If you can hike 5–12 km with some elevation gain, you're good. We provide an 8-week

training plan if you want it, but you don't need to be super fit. We've taken women

aged 35–75.

How is the group split during the adventures?

We keep it to 12 women maximum and split into separate ski and snowshoe groups so

everyone's moving at their own pace. Small enough that we know your name and adjust

to your needs.

What's the accommodation like?

Comfortable Thredbo Village lodge with heating, mountain views, and cosy communal spaces. Hot showers, warm beds, fireside relaxation.

What if the weather is bad?

We're locals. We know where to go when conditions change. Bad weather doesn't cancel

the retreat—it just changes the plan. We prioritize safety and experience.

Is this women-only?

Yes. These retreats are specifically designed for women seeking backcountry experience

with other women in a supportive, confidence-building environment.

How do I get there?

You'll meet us in Thredbo, with clear travel details provided before the retreat.

Some retreat dates will have a Canberra shuttle so just ask!

Where can I stay the night before (or after) the retreat?

We can organise accommodation for you before or after the retreat. Additional

costs may apply (depending on availability). Alternatively, we may be able to shuttle you to and from

accommodation near Canberra Airport before and after the retreat. We're committed

to making this as seamless as possible for you.

What's the investment?

Standard / Payment plan: $3,400
Early bird or prepayment: $2,950 (prepayment)

Includes everything: guides, accommodation, all meals, yoga, recovery, sauna, sound

healing, gear support, pre-trip consultation.

When are the 2026 dates?

Winter 2026 dates are releasing soon. Book your Adventure Alignment Session to get

on the priority list and secure early bird pricing.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes. We can work with you on payment plans. Our mission is getting you into the

backcountry—if finances are the only barrier, let's talk.

What if I need to cancel?

We understand plans change. Cancellation policy details are provided here.

Our policies exist to protect both you and us. We recommend all participants get travel insurance after paying your deposit.
